Time management skills training

Posted by Chris on 05/07/2009

Here is an important question

Are you trying to do too much?

Many people think that "there is too much to do".

The truth is that:
They are trying to do too much.

Here is the solution to your problems
Stop trying to do too much!

Here is another question

Should you try to do it all?
There are two possible answers to the question
1. Yes - I should try to do it all
2. No- I should NOT try to do it all

What if you answer “yes”
“Yes: I should try to do it all”

That means: “Yes I should try to ….
• Please everyone
• Chase up all the opportunities
• Satisfy every desire”

If you try to do it all…..
You burn out: You will suffer overwhelm
Why?
Because you are a limited being with limited amounts of
• Time
• Energy
• Mental focus
• Patience

So:
Please do NOT try to “do it all”.
You should instead, try to do “only some”

What is meant by “only some”?

There are three options
1. Your favourite things
2. The easiest things
3. Your most important things

Of the three options:
Don’t do “your favourite things”
Because the favourite things might be worthless to you:
• Eating more cakes does not solve the problem
• Shopping on-line does not help the situation.

Don't do the easiest things
The “easy win” can make you feel better, but does not necessarily improve the situation.

DO ONLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS
The most important things are defined as "The FEW things that, if done well, will take you the furthest towards the achievement of your goals”.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS almost certainly will not be:
1. The easiest things on your list
2. The most pleasant things on your list.

But they are the best things on your list

Anything else is a relative waste of time.

DO ONLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS

Always, you should know what the "one most valuable task" is for that movement.

Summary

The course was very beneficial to me. The theoretical and practical parts were very well balanced. Also, thanks go to Mr. Chris who made the course very interesting and helped us to get the most benefit of it.
