A good time management tip

Don’t waste time on the wrong things!

How can you figure out what are the right things?

Suppose we categorised every item on your list and placed them in one of three categorries

1. All the things you can control
2. All the things that you cannot control - but can INFLUENCE
3. All the things that you cannot control NOR influence

1 All the things you can control control
The things you can control are the things that should grap the lion’s share of your attention.

They include:
1. The quality of your work
2. The quantity of your work
3. Your emotional reactions to things
4. Your use of language
5. Your goals and plans for the future

2. All the things that you cannot control but can INFLUENCE

1. The quantity and quality of  other peoples work
2. Other peoples decisions
3. The emotions of others
4. Your immediate surroundings and environment
5. Your physical  health

All the things that you cannot control NOR hardly influence

1. The global market place
2. Government  funding
3. The weather
4. The traffic
5. What your competition is planning
6. The past
7. Your age!
8. The follies of others

Here is the time management tip
Dont waste time worrying, pondering or trying to change those things that over which you have no
control nor hardly any influence.

Instead: Focus 80% of your time on the things you can control

1. The quality of your work
2. The quantity of your work
3. Your emotional reactions to things
4. You use of language
5. Your goals and plans for the future

Spend the remaining 20% of your time on the things you cannot control but can INFLUENCE.

Spend 0% of your time complaining about all the things that you cannot control NOR influence.

The government
The weather
The traffic
The past

Other people’s weird ways

Think about what you CAN do, not what you can’t do
