Work pressure
Pressure is a part of life.
But sometimes it can overwhelm you and be the cause of physical and mental problems.
You cannot get away from pressure, because running away from problems always creates worse ones!
The way to deal with pressure is to learn to handle three things:
1. Your mind 2. your body 3. your reactions
1. How to handle your mind
Think of this: Your own mind is the source of ALL of your worries!
With NO brain you would be incapable of worry.
Worry can be seen as the misuse of the imagination.
The solution to your pressure is to control your mind.
Instead, make PLANS of ACTION.
Leave no time for worry.
PLANS of action will tend to settle your mind.
Worry will tend to disrupt it.
2. Handle your physical body
Many people make pressure situations worse by mis-handling their body. The one thing your body needs is ENERGY. In order to create energy it needs five other things: 1. Oxygen 2. Nutrition 3. Water 4. Sleep 5. Exercise
Most people when under pressure simultaneously undercut their energy by:
• Smoking more (so reducing oxygen) • NOT sleeping • NOT eating right • NOT exercising • Drinking alcohol and thus dehydrating themselves
As a result they have LESS energy at the very time they need more.
3. Handle your physical Responses
When under pressure people tend to respond emotionally with fits of:
1. Anger 2. Fear 3. Frustration 4. Tears
When under pressure try to respond intellectually, NOT emotionally.
Use your will to think it through.
Don't react on instinct or reflex.
Remember your greatest asset is your intelligence .......provided you USE it!
Remember this phrase THINK IT THROUGH
