We asked Chris to tell you about his approach. He said
“My purpose is to present a clear, integrated system of management and leadership, together with the corresponding skills to put theory into practice”.
Chris believes that many people at work are experts in their field: they know their systems, products and customers. Because of that expertise, they are promoted. That means they have to lead, manage and inspire people.
And that is not what they are trained to do.
Chris believes there are people who are looking for a definite method, together with associated skills, and he sets out to provide the support they need.
Chris draws his material from five sources:
- The best management models (for example Situational leadership).
- Applied psychology (such as behaviorism and NLP).
- Philosophy (many problems faced by managers are philosophical: for example, issues of fairness, politics and ethics. Chris draws from the philosophy of “objectivism”).
- Previous delegates (Ideas learned from the experiences of previous delegates are incorporated into the system).
- Personal observations made by contrasting different organizations.
Chris’ presentations show three main qualities:
- They are clear, (Chris is articulate and precise)
- They are well structured and reasoned. (The method “fits together” so that all elements reinforce each other).
- They are delivered with enthusiasm and excitement. (Chris believes that courses should be inspirational and motivational)
- Chris has presented his material to differing kinds of audiences, from both public and private sectors.
He says “It is interesting to see that this material is applicable to almost every sector, independent of the product or service, because the common theme is people. You would be surprised that many of the problems experienced by leader-managers are universal. How do you motivate people? How do you resolve conflicts? How do decide what is fair? How do you improve communication? The same questions trouble most managers everywhere.”
We are confident that you will find Chris’ training clear, well thought out, practical and inspirational.
