Clarity of purpose, clear communication and conflict
Six primary virtues of leadership and management:
- Develop goal focus.
- Communicate with accuracy and clarity.
- Organise, plan ahead and prioritise.
- Manage conflict and handle difficult people.
- Inspire themselves towards a positive mental attitude.
- Inspire others towards a positive mental attitude.

Provide a clear vision and definite goal focus.

Communicate with clarity and accuracy
Make affirmative statements
Define your ideas before the meeting

Time management: Productive vs busy

What is the value of the task?
What is the deadline pressure?
Identify and manage the three time wasters:
- The people you work with that distract you
- Bad habits
- Poor systems
Delegate lower value tasks (for the right reasons only)
Learn to priorities by means of a decision matrix

Day 3: Practical experience on board one of our yachts (optional)

You will arrive on the yacht 0800hrs. There will be an introduction to the vessel including a full safety brief and risk assessments and the issue of safety equipment.
You will be asked to set out and agree the goals and tasks for the day and ensure everyone knows their role.
With some help from the expert captain, you will then sail the yacht into the Solent and start working as a team to achieve your stated goals.
You will be asked to work together as a team to put the principles of the course into practice:
Achievement by means of:
- Goal focus
- Accurate communication
- Organised planning
- Proper conflict resolution
- Sustaining a productive working atmosphere.
Lunch will be prepared and served on board.
At the end of the afternoon you will return to the yacht safely to the base. Then you will review of the performance of the team.
This will include:
- Did you achieve the stated goal?
- Feedback on your team’s performance.
- Feedback on your individual performance.
- Introspective feedback: How well do you think you did?
- How will you use the training to improve your organisational team’s performance?

JEANNEAU SUN ODYSSEY 54

The Jeanneau 54 is the flagship of the Jeanneau fleet and boasts sleek lines, a sumptuous interior and a superb sailing performance. The 54 is a stunning boat and will be comfortable with up to 8 guests sleeping onboard over night, whether they are experienced sailors or complete novices.
We have access to up to 10 of these superb boats so would also be good for bigger groups if required (see proposal for sailing regattas)
The Jeanneau 54’s create the perfect platform for team training events, they are fast fun and exciting to sail even for the complete novice, yet they are spacious and comfortable for those times when briefings and assessments are taking place, they sleep 8 guests in 4 separate cabins (two guests sharing per cabin, they have three heads (toilets!)
