Communication Skills: Clear, Rational and Positive

Communication Skills: Clear, Rational and Positive

The Importance of Clear, Rational and Positive Communication

Empowering people with professional communication skills is vital. Communication should always be clear, rational and positive:

1. Make your communication clear, not vague.

The first essential skill for everyone is clear communication. It is crucial to always be understood clearly. Unclear communication leads to confusion and error, while clear communication ensures full understanding.

An example of vague communication would be: Please, send me those documents ASAP.

Notice that ASAP denotes no definite meaning? ASAP is an example of vagueness.

On the other hand, clear, accurate and precise language will cause understanding and confidence to grow, in the mind of your listener.

Therefore, the priority is to speak and understand in a manner that is unambiguous and straightforward.

2. Make your communication rational.

The second key skill is rational communication. It is important that communication is perceived as reasonable, logical, well-thought-out, and based on common sense. Providing reasons to believe is critical for effective communication.

To make your communication more rational, use LOGIC.

Try to use a logical, scientific method of communicating your message. Provide a logical rational to support your ideas.

If you fail to provide a rational for your message, then nobody will have a reason to believe it.

If you do provide a logic to your message, them people will be more inclined to believe it.

3. Positive communication.

The third vital skill is positivity. This includes everything from body language, voice tones, to facial expressions. People need to consistently emit positive vibrations and be perceived as positive. This requires understanding how to use words, tone, and body language effectively.

Positive Words: The words we use significantly impact how others feel. Negative words can generate negative feelings, while positive words have the opposite effect. Learning to communicate using positive messages is key.

Positive Voice Tones: The way something is said can influence feelings. A positive, enthusiastic voice tone affects others positively. It's not just about what is said, but how it is said.

Positive Body Language: Body language involves various elements like appearance, posture, gestures, eye contact, and facial expression. Understanding how others perceive our body language is crucial. Learning to maximize positive impact through body language is an important skill.
