Essential Training to Develop Core Skills

Essential Training to Develop Core Skills

Training is a critical component of success, for both individuals and organizations in their respective fields. Our thoughts drive our actions, and these actions can either be based on sound knowledge or not.

Actions based on unsound knowledge have a higher probability of being wrong, which can result in negative consequences. Therefore, training is essential to ensure that our actions are consistent with accurate knowledge and more likely to create positive outcomes.

There are two aspects to training: mechanistic and human aspects.

Mechanistic aspects refer to technical expertise related to various fields of endeavour.

Human aspects, on the other hand, relate to how to get the best performance from oneself and others. The human aspects are the most subtle and complex because they involve understanding what motivates people to do what they do.

To get the best performance from individuals and teams, it is crucial to have a thorough understanding of the human aspects of training.

These aspects of training encompass several subsets, including goal focus, accurate language, decision-making, prioritization, initiative, cooperation, self-confidence, and motivation.

1. Goal focus is an essential subset of training because good thinking is directed towards a definite purpose and achieving goals.

2. Accurate language is another critical subset because good thinking is reliant on the correct use of specific language.

3. Decision making is also a crucial subset of training because good thinking includes the ability to select the best option from many options.

4. Prioritization is equally important because we can only take one action at a time, and we must prioritize our actions according to their value, deadline pressure, and logical necessity.

5. Initiative involves translating our thoughts into effective actions rather than just more talk.

6. Cooperation is also vital because effective action must be coordinated action among many people, and nobody can succeed on their own. We need to gain the willing cooperation of others.

7. Lastly, self-confidence and motivation are essential because good thinking includes the ability to generate a positive mental attitude, especially during difficult times.
